MONETA • ARGENT : REIP : VLMENSIS, civic coat-of-arms within ornate frame and surmounted by cherub; all within linear and reeded border / DA • PACEM • NOBIS • DOMINE • 1704, crowned double-headed nimbate imperial eagle facing, with wings displayed, bearing globus cruciger on breast; all within linear and reeded border.
The city of Ulm passed between the French and Bavarians several times during the War of the Spanish Succession. In 1704, when this klippe was produced, the city was besieged by a German force under General Thüngen, to whom the city fell on 10 September.
